Farm Sunday

HOME PAGE

Welcome to Overbury Farms Home Page

Overbury Farms, managed by Jake Freestone, is a sheep and arable farm set on the historic Cotswold slopes of Bredon Hill in Worcestershire. Overbury Farms is on the Overbury Estate which has been in the same family for over 250 years. Covering 1,538 hectares, it surrounds the picturesque villages of Overbury and Conderton.

Winter 2010

After a wet summer we finished our harvest in early September. Some of our barley has been harvested for malting to go into Carling beer. With a few other farmers Carling have interviewed Jake. Meet the farmers growing for Carling

We have now got most of next year's crops in the ground & Gordon is just finishing off the miles of hedge cutting around the farm.

We had a busy summer hosting the following:-
Open Farm Sunday in June.  This year Jake was filmed by the NFU & is on You Tube See our events page.
Schools day in June Countryside Foundation for Education.
The Farm Planner of the Year 2009 competition (with the finals at the Royal Show. See our education page

New & Old

While we are very keen to maintain many traditional values (such high standards of hedge cutting & keeping on top of wall repairs) we have taken up many aspects of modern technology (such as GPS mapping) to keep us ahead with cost savings & efficiency. There is an emphasis on conservation and we enjoy sharing with future generations what farming is about. We meet the rigorous environmental standards set by the farm's LEAF Audit and LEAF MARQUE (LEAF is Linking Environment and Farming) which is in addition to our Farm Assurance standards.
