Open Farm Sunday
Since Open Farm Sunday began we have opened the farm to the public in conjunction with LEAF’s national initiative. This year (9th June 2013), instead of hosting Open Farm Sunday, we will be doing something smaller & more local before the event. This will give our Farm Manager Jake and the team a chance to visit local farms hosting their own Open Farm Sunday.
Open Farm Sunday is an opportunity to come and learn how modern farms work, and get an insight into how Britain’s farmers fulfill their responsibilities to the next generation by looking after the land and the environment. During the week afterwards we will be helping with a pilot of Open Farm School Day in conjunction with Countryside Learning & our Estate Day.
Local Hosts – Sandfield Farm
Emma and Rob Harrison own Sandfield Farm at Sedgeberrow, Worcs. They are only a few minutes from Overbury and will be opening their gates on Sunday 9th June for this years Open Farm Sunday.
Robs Twitter page is a great way to stay in touch with the family and the dairy herd they run. On the day they will be running from 11.00am until 3.00pm. Activities will include tractor trailer rides, pond dipping, farm walks, craft activities, meet a vet, farm machinery display, butter making, learning about livestock (including cows, pigs and chicks) and much more…
There will be plenty of refreshments with a local meat bbq, plus tea, coffee and homemade cakes.
Directions – sign posted off A46. Please wear appropriate clothes and footwear.
